Micro-needling remains one of the most popular and effective treatments for acne scarring, fine lines, and overall skin rejuvenation. It works by gently creating thousands of microscopic channels into your skin’s surface to allow your skin to heal tighter, smoother, and with renewed volume. At KAST Aesthetics, Sandbach, Cheshire, we use Skin Microneedling for a range of skin conditions and concerns.
Scarring and ageing break down our collagen and elastin which leads to an uneven texture. When injured, your skin heals itself by creating fresh collagen and elastin.
Needling is extremely versatile due to its non-ablative, non-thermal, and fractionated approach to resurfacing. It is one of the few resurfacing options that are safe for darker skin types, as the risk of hyperpigmentation is very low,
The automated needling device looks like a thick pen and has a tip comprised of 12-36 sterile micro-needles.
Treatment starts by cleansing the face and applying a topical numbing cream to minimise discomfort.
Then a hydrating active mesotherapy serum is applied to allow the device to glide over the skin as the small surgical-grade needles gently vibrate over your skin’s surface.
Your practitioner will customise the depth of penetration of these needles to reflect treatment objectives such as acne scars, enlarged pores, and wrinkles.
The treatment itself is very comfortable with some clients describing it as light scratching
Micro-needling can be performed on the face, neck, chest, and virtually anywhere else to improve the skin’s texture.
The skin may look and feel like a mild windburn immediately after treatment. Slight redness and tingling may persist for up to three days, but makeup can be worn the day after.
Your practitioner will recommend specific guidelines on how to care for your skin following your treatment and the use of an SPF 30 or higher will be mandatory.
Most patients notice an improvement in their skin’s smoothness and radiance after just one treatment, but a package of at least three treatments, spaced three to four weeks apart is advised for optimal results. More appointments may be necessary for deeper acne scarring, deep-set wrinkles, or stretch marks.
Because collagen and elastin grow in three-month cycles, improvements can be seen for up to three months after the last treatment. Micro-needling can be performed on an annual or quarterly basis to keep the skin’s collagen renewal rate high and to enjoy tightening and smoothing results all year round!
