This is a national service we have partnered with. The programme consists of a calorie-controlled diet with the addition of a once weekly medication. You give this yourself using a tiny injection pen.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
This varies but most people will lose around a stone (6.5kg) every 4-6 weeks. There are many factors that affect this.
What do I do once I reach my ideal weight?
This is really down to you. Most people feel happy to maintain their lifestyle to manage weight regain. You do have the option of staying on a low maintenance dose to help with this.
Do you need to fast?
No, fasting is not a requirement of the programme.
I don't like needles - will it hurt?
The needles are super fine and painless.
Is it legal?

How do I start this program?
As the NMWLP uses prescription medication, you must first undergo a medical assessment and a comprehensive consultation to ensure that you are suitable for the program and that it is safe for you.

The NMWLP uses medication that is prescribed for weight management.
It is used in conjunction with diet and exercise in adults aged 18-75, who have a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 when there are any other weight-related issues present such as high blood pressure, abnormal levels of fats in the blood (lipids), or breathing problems during sleep (obstructive sleep apnoea).
How does it work?
The medication works as an appetite suppressant. Delivery is via a virtually daily or weekly painless injection. You will feel less hungry, feel fuller quicker and fuller for longer. This should lead to significant weight loss.
